Fatal Chain-Reaction Crash On Route 24

FALL RIVER, MA — A man was killed in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction crash on Route 24 in Fall River Tuesday morning, police said. The victim was identified as Yau Wong Li, 65, of West Roxbury. The crash happened at about 5 a.m.

State Police the crash happened when the driver of an Acura sedan hit a guardrail and stopped in the middle of the road with traffic oncoming. Li, who was driving a sport utility vehicle, hit the Acura broadside and also stopped in the road, police said. A van then rear-ended Li's vehicle, causing it to roll over. Li was declared dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. No charges were immediately announced.
