Fire Log -- Gas Leak at Parkview School
Gas leak at Parkview School leads to school evacuation

Three fire engines responded to a gas/odor leak at Parkview School on Thursday, May 19, at 9:12 a.m. The fire personnel detected that there was a gas odor coming from a pilot light in a stove, but a gas meter detected a zero reading.
The students were evacuated to the Easton Middle School cafeteria, and Columbia Gas arrived to the Parkview School at 9:30 a.m. The gas company detected a problem with a pilot light on the stove, and cleaned the ignitors. The gas company deemed the building to be safe, and the children returned to the school.
Fire Chief Thomas Stone said that the fire department made sure that there was no gas in the air before the children were allowed back into the school.
