Food Drive Turns Into Rescue Mission for Easton Firefighters
Members of the Easton Fire Department participated in a food drive at Elise Circle and Parker Terrace Monday and were able to rescue one resident who had fallen in her apartment.

What began as a holiday food drive turned into a rescue mission for Easton Fire Department members Saturday morning.
During the firefighter union's annual holiday food drive at Elise Circle and Parker Terrace in-which the firefighters delivered food boxes to the elderly and disabled residents in the complex, Easton's on-duty crew happened to knock on the door of a resident who had fallen the night before and was suffering from a medical condition.

The firefighters gained entry to the apartment and were able to treat the resident, Fire Lieutenant Mike Green said. She was then transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Firefighters were participating in the food drive, which was such a success last year that they hope to expand and continue it in the future, according to Union President John Dzialo

"We are also trying to collaborate with the local food bank to begin helping them collect food throughout the year as well," he said.
The firefighters picked up the food from and delivered it to each of the apartments in the two complexes.
As for the elderly resident, whose identity and current condition could not be released for confidentiality purposes, Green said the on-duty crew did an excellent job in the rescue efforts.
"The firefighters did a great job catching it and treating her appropriately," he said.
