Four Car Crash at Turnpike-Purchase Intersection Sends One to Hospital

The incident was the result of a failure to yield Monday, Police said.

One person was transported to the hospital Monday evening after a four-car accident at the intersection of Turnpike and Purchase Street

Easton Police Chief Allen Krajcik said a failure to yield resulted in a chain reaction.

"Investigation by Officer Keith Boone indicates that a 2006 Buick operated by Joseph Cohen, age 18, of 7 Jefferson Court, Stoughton stopped at the stop sign on Purchase Street but then failed to yield to a vehicle heading northbound on Turnpike," Krajcik said in a statement.

Cohen allegedly failed to yield to Michael Hurley of Malden.

Following the initial accident, a third vehicle heading north on Turnpike struck the rear of Hurley's vehicle, which was pushed into a fourth vehicle heading south on Turnpike.
