Over the years, St. Patrick’s Day has become more than a day of appreciation for St. Patrick. The holiday has turned into a day to celebrate everything Irish.
Massachusetts will have no problem getting into the Irish spirit, as the state has the highest percentage of residents with Irish ancestry in the nation. About 21.3 percent of residents claimed Irish ancestry, according to census data.
While everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, how many people in Bristol County have some Irish in them every day of the year?

The U.S. Census Bureau reports about 18.8 percent of Bristol County’s population claims Irish ancestry. Out of a total population of 552,780, about 104,072 people in Bristol Country are Irish.

Nearby Mansfield has an Irish percentage of 27.9 and was ranked number 25 on the top-50 most Irish towns in Massachusetts by WCVB.
Plymouth was found to be the most Irish town in the state with about 41.9 percent of the town’s population claiming Irish ancestry, WCVB reports.
Tuesday, March 17 isn’t the only day to appreciate Irish heritage. The entire month of March was named Irish-American Heritage Month by Congress in 1991.
