Job Description

Overview: Easton Community Access Television is seeking a News Director for an exciting part time

position. The News Director will serve as the catalyst for collecting, organizing and producing local news

programming for the community of Easton. Working alongside ECAT staff and volunteers News Director will

be responsible for overseeing timely dissemination of TV and web based local news content. This is a part time

position with a flexible schedule (15 hrs. / wk)

Primary Job Responsibilities

● Serve as the Producer of weekly news segments on Easton Community Access Television

● Collect, Filter and publish news content on ECAT’s website and community bulletin board

● Maintain and cultivate a list of news contacts and local organizations, institutions and events that ECAT

can cover and report on

● Coordinate and develop new stories, conduct interviews, and cover local issues.

● Aggregate news and event information from all other local news outlets (blogs, newspaper, email lists)

● Work productively with volunteer and/or intern news producers

Job Requirements

● Bachelors, Associates Degree or 2 years related experience in Journalism / Communications

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills

● Well organized, self motivated

● Computer and web based proficiency (ex. Google Docs; writing a blog post)

● Ability to work independently and in a team setting

● Willingness to have image and voice on TV as needed

● Willingness to learn new programs

● Passion and commitment to the community of Easton

Terms: 15 hrs. per week
