Leave Me Alone

I've started to moan,

The more you push me around,

Trying to get me to do these things untold,

To fit me into your perfectly formed life's mold.

Mine feels like a dent in its outer cover,

It's a pierced heart that's there,

And I'm doing my best to keep it together.

Mmm, I recall this feeling so deep

When losing a loved one, or even Fido,

He's missed so much—the wag of his tail.

But a wife or husband, if their autumn came earlier,

Than you left, blowing in the wind

Like a fallen leaf,

To crumble as you try to put it all back together

And follow life's rough roads!

This leaf is getting old and slowing down,

I know you mean well and want the best for me,

And it's not really nagging,

But it sure feels that way sometimes.

But again, I'm doing my best,

Thanks for thinking of me oh so much.

A true friend is the best—a leaf catcher?

You must be, or don't take this the wrong way,

But you're a leaf blower!!!
