Man Killed at Bernie and Phyl's Near Easton

NORTON, MA - A Foxborough man was killed Wednesday after an accident at Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture in Norton, near the Easton town line.

At 1 p.m., police and fire crews in Norton responded to a report of an employee who was hit by a delivery truck in the rear parking lot of the business. The victim was identified as Michael Hassett, 63. He was pronounced dead at the scene according to the Norton Police Department.

“It is with deep sadness that we mourn the loss of a treasured member of the Bernie & Phyl’s family. Today, we lost a long-time and valued employee at our Norton headquarters,” the company wrote on Facebook. “This tragic accident in our parking lot has left us shocked. We cannot even begin to express our sadness and sorrow.”

Hassett was a warehouse manager for the company.

The incident is under investigation by Norton Police, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office and members of the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the DA’s Office.
