Mass. Unemployment Rate Drops to 6 Percent

The national unemployment rate is currently 6.3 percent.

The state unemployment rate in April dropped to 6 percent—down a full percentage point from a year ago.

The trade, transportation and utility sector saw the most growth, with 3,400 new jobs added in the last month, according to state statistics. The leisure and hospitality sector fared the worst, with 4,300 jobs lost over the last month.

The state's unemployment rate improved from its March level of 6.3 percent.
