The group went to several neighborhoods in Easton to attend to the several hydrants still covered in snow.

About 50 fire hydrants were shoveled out thanks to the community service effort, said Easton Fire Chief Kevin Partridge.

After all this snow, more snow is still on the way and Mathews and Partridge plan to recruit even more students for a future effort to shovel out the hydrants.

After the recent Groundhog Day snowstorm, Partridge requests that residents make sure nearby hydrants are shoveled out. A hydrant cleared of snow would make the firefighters’ jobs easier in the event of a fire.
