EASTON, MA — Five people were injured in a pair of crashes on Friday night, Easton police said, resulting in two separate medical helicopter flights to Boston area hospitals. The unrelated crashes happened just half an hour apart.

The first crash happened around 10 p.m. on Belmont Street at the entrance to Stonehill College, when a 2012 Jeep Wrangler and a 2013 Honda Odyssesy collided. The driver of the Honda, a 46-year-old woman, was flown by helicopter to Brigham and Women's Hospital with serious injuries, police said. The three other people in the van, children aged 10, nine and seven, were taken to the hospital with injuries that officials said were not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the Jeep declined medical attention at the scene, and both vehicles were towed away.

About half an hour later, a pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run outside a restaurant on Foundry Street in North Easton. When emergency responders arrived, the 26-year-old woman was sitting on the curb with serious injuries to her lower legs and the driver had already left.
