Police Chief: Break-in Percentage on the Rise
Two break-ins this week add to a long list of break-ins this year.

Easton Police Chief said there have been 23 housebreaks in Easton since January 1, which is 25 percent increase over the same period last year.
The most recent of which occurred Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning.
The break-in Tuesday evening occurred on Standley Road through an unlocked rear door while the homeowner was away. A caller reported that jewelry had been stolen from the residence.

Additionally, Cheeky Diva on Washington Street was reportedly broken into at approximately 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. Krajcik said the window had been smashed and the front door was left open. A crow bar was found on the premises, he said, and a small amount of cash was taken.
Easton Police are investigating both instances.

Krajcik said most of the break-ins during the spike have occurred during the daytime. He advised Easton residents to report any suspicious activities or vehicles in the neighborhood.
