Police Log: Brown Tap Water in South Easton

Excerpts from the Easton Police Department log.

Monday, Aug. 4

At 5:08 p.m., police were requested at Purchase Street in regards to the caller’s neighbor making verbal threats while waving a rake. Officer spoke to both parties.

At 6:39 p.m., a caller at Spooner Street reported to the police his 87-year-old mother was missing from the home for about 50 minutes. She was found at 6:45 p.m., near St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Center Street and refused transport. Officers escorted her as she headed home on foot.

At 11:07 p.m., police received a report of threats occurring at Gaslight Lane. Caller was receiving repeated harassing text messages on his wife’s cell phone from her ex husband.

Tuesday, Aug. 5

At 8:51 a.m., police reported a two-car motor-vehicle accident with minor injuries at Turnpike Street and Foundry Street. Easton Fire Department was notified. There were no injuries and no tows necessary.

At 4:58 p.m., police were notified of a fraud regarding IRS agents looking to collect money from a party on Foundry Street. Police advised the party it was a scam.

At 8:49 p.m., police assisted Easton Fire Department at Burger King on Foundry Street. Officers reported the air conditioning unit leaked water and caused a malfunction in the system. The business closed down for the night.



Wednesday, Aug. 6

At 6:39 a.m., police advised a party who reported repeated accounts of vandalism in the neighborhood on Willow Road.

At 2:45 p.m., police reported a breaking and entering on Foundry Street. The caller reported one heavy set, white male with facial hair leaving the residence in a dark blue Chevy Cavalier.

At 4:13 p.m., police reported fraud on Main Street. A female motorist received a phone threat. Police reported the incident was a scam.



Thursday, Aug. 7

At 5:49 a.m., police responded to a domestic situation at Easton Mobile Home Park on Turnpike Street. Caller reported his estranged wife came to pick up their child. The caller said the female party “ripped” their child out of his hands. Officers read both parties their rights. Police reported the child is safe.

At 5 p.m., police received multiple calls from residents in South Easton reporting their water is brown. Police were advised by the Water Department that a hydrant blew up at 11 a.m. The Water Department flushed the hydrants in the area, and the water is expected to clear within the next day or two. Residents who called were updated.

At 6:19 p.m., police reported larceny on Main Street. Caller reported missing jewelry items from her home. Investigation to follow.
