RAYNHAM RESIDENT CHERYL SCHONDEK NAMED A 2015 "WOMAN OF INFLUENCE IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY"
VP at The Greater Boston Food Bank Honored by Industry Journal, The Griffin Report

The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) – New England’s largest hunger-relief organization – today announced that Raynham resident Cheryl Schondek, Vice President of Food Acquisition and Supply Chain, has been inducted into The Griffin Report’s 2015 “Women of Influence in the Food Industry.”
Since 2006, the Griffin Publishing Company’s “Women of Influence in the Food Industry” designation has recognized women in the food industry who demonstrate “superior achievement and innovation.”
As Vice President of Food Acquisition and Supply Chain at GBFB, Schondek works with more than 500 retailers, wholesalers, vendors and donors to acquire grocery products, fresh produce, dairy, meat and other nutritious foods for as many as 550,000 children, adults, students, veterans and senior citizens in the 190 cities and towns throughout eastern Massachusetts that GBFB serves annually.

Schondek, whose extensive background in food retail and nutrition spans 29 years, joined GBFB in 2013. Her work focuses on identifying and acquiring the most cost-effective and nutritious foods available so that GBFB can continue to distribute food and other essentials to the one in nine residents of eastern Massachusetts struggling to put food on the table. In 2014 alone, GBFB distributed more than 50 million pounds of food.
Prior to joining GBFB, Schondek served as Director of Product Management and Merchandising at Shaw’s Supermarkets, Inc.
