Registration Open for Temple Religious School in Canton

Temple Beth Abraham offers creative joyous Jewish education for children in grades K-7.

Registration is now open for the 2017-2017 school year of the Ruth L. Diamond Religious School at Temple Beth Abraham in Canton. The school’s two-day a week program strives to make Jewish education a creative and joyous experience for children and families.

Teachers give students the tools to “Learn Jewishly Through Living Jewishly” with programming that includes participation in Shabbat services, creating of art to enhance holiday celebrations, and dramatic recreations to reinforce Torah lessons.

The religious school experience moves beyond student education by incorporating family and community programming into the curriculum throughout the year.

The Ruth L. Diamond Religious School is unique in that learning plans are tailored to meet the individual needs of each child. Students progress at their own pace to earn “badges” that demonstrate mastery of learning.

Melissa Rudman, Director of Congregational Learning, points out that the school offers Shorashim (roots), a Saturday learning experience for grades K-1, as well as Saturday morning and Tuesday afternoon classes for grades 2-7.

Shorashim engages children in hands-on learning as they study Jewish holidays and Bible stories. Through community activities and social action programs, Shorashim provides families with the knowledge to bring Judaism into their homes. Shorashim families do not need to be Temple members.

Shabbat provides the opportunity for both Shorahim and older students to participate alongside the adult congregation in the main sanctuary on Saturday mornings – an experience appreciated by all ages – after which the students enjoy a light lunch together.

On Tuesday afternoons, children in grades 2-7 study Hebrew, holidays, Torah, Israel and prayers.

Temple Beth Abraham is a progressive center of Jewish living and learning located in Canton and serving surrounding towns. An egalitarian congregation, TBA embraces all by bringing together people who share a common interest in learning and growing as committed Jewish and caring human beings.

Religious school classes begin September 13 and 17. For information, contact Melissa Rudman at theschool@templebethabraham.org or 781-828-5250 or visit www.templebethabraham.org.
