When it comes to playing it safe on the golf course, the South Shore Dermatology Physicians (SSDP) patients are earning high scores for success .

In a note to SSDP dermatologist Viraj Shroff-Mehta, MD, patients FS, BJ and DB wrote:

Don’t let the dangers of UV exposure deter you from enjoying your favorite outdoor activities. Decrease your risk of sun damage by following these simple steps:

  • Wear protective clothing, such as a long-sleeved shirt, pants, wide brimmed hat, and sunglasses
  • Apply a broad-spectrum, water resistant sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor of 30 or more to all exposed skin
  • Seek shade when appropriate, especially during the hours between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm when the sun’s rays are strongest
  • Use extra caution near water, snow and sand
  • Avoid tanning beds.
