South Coast Oxycodone Dealer Gets Prison
Police said Henry Barbosa, of New Bedford, was arrested during an undercover sting.

NEW BEDFORD, MA — A New Bedford man was sentenced lat week to 2 years and 6 months in prison for dealing oxycodone in the South Coast. Henry Barbosa, 40, pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of oxycodone possession with intent to distribute.
Barbosa was arrested in 2013 in Westport and found with dozens of oxycodone pills and $7,000 in cash, police said. He was arrested again in 2014 during a New Bedford police sting operation; authorities said he was found hundreds of oxycodone and percocet pills and $15,000 in cash.
Barbosa was sentenced to 2 years probation upon his release from prison and forfeited more than $14,000 in drug proceeds.

“This is a defendant, at the age of 40, who has made huge profits off of individuals who are addicted to opiates,” Bristol District Attorney Thomas Quinn said in a statement. “The state prison sentence and forfeiture of his ill-gotten cash holds him accountable.”
