Southeastern Honors New SkillsUSA Chapter Officers

Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School will be hosting the district competition on February 25.

Congratulations to the new SkillsUSA chapter officers at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School, who were honored on December 4, at a school ceremony. The officers include: President -- Mariah Watterson of Mansfield (Metal Fabrication); Vice President -- Alexis Wright of Stoughton (Medical Assisting); Secretary – Mariah Nozin of Brockton (Environmental Technology); Treasurer – Mackenzie Sullivan of Brockton (Medical Assisting); Reporter – Andrea Gomes of Brockton (Medical Assisting); Parliamentarian – Abigail Velazquez of Brockton (Medical Assisting) and Historian -- Adeliza Nunes of Brockton (Medical Assisting).

The officers received pins, medals and flowers during the ceremony, which was attended by School Superintendent Luis Lopes, Principal David Wheeler, Vice Principal Karen Maguire, Vocational Director Leslie Weckesser, and SkillsUSA advisors Sheila Fox, Leah Doolin, and Robert Morin.

The officers will be representing SkillsUSA in the school and community, which includes presiding over meetings, fundraising and participating in community service. The fundraising will help to reimburse the school for money spent on blazers and windbreakers, which the students will wear during competitions.

“The students were elated that everyone took time out of their busy schedule to attend the event. We would also like to thank the culinary department for the delicious breakfast – they did an outstanding job,” said Mrs. Fox

SkillsUSA is a nonprofit organization that prepares high school and college students for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations. It holds district, state and national competitions each year, which allows students to showcase their technical skills and leadership abilities. This year, Southeastern will be hosting the district competition, which will take place on February 25.
