Southeastern Regional Voc Tech Students' Art Featured in Local Art Exhibitions

Five Student Design and Visual Artists Honored

(South Easton) - Two Design and Visual Communication (DVC) majors (pictured above) and Brockton residents received honorable mention at the Boston Globe Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Janeliz Bonilla, a junior from Brockton, submitted a photo entitled “Façade,” featuring Cosmetology major and Avant Gard model Karly Galligan of Norton. Samantha St. Firmin, a senior from Brockton, entered her photo “Water Sprite.” An exhibition of Gold Key winners will be held March 7-15 at the Boston University gallery.

According to DVC instructor, Mrs. Shirley Ezerins, “Scholastics provides wonderful opportunities for students to have others appreciate and assess their work. It’s always an honor when any of the students receive a key or honorable mention. Students are often pleasantly surprised when they win.”

“I’m still shocked that I got honorable mention. I honestly wasn’t sure that I was going to enter the competition! This is amazing and getting recognition for my work is an award in itself,” Miss St. Firmin confirmed.
