STI Adult HVAC Students Take Home Gold and Silver in the SkillsUSA Competition

George Kielpinski of Foxboro and Wendell Mayo., Jr of Boston, represented STI well in the postsecondary HVAC competition at the SkillsUSA State Leadership & Skills Conference Championships held at Blackstone Valley Tech in April. Mr. Kielpinski, awarded Gold in the contest, will continue to the SkillsUSA National Competition in Louisville, Kentucky, in June.
According to skillsusa.org, SkillsUSA is a national membership organization serving middle school, high
school and college/postsecondary students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled
service occupations, including health occupations. More than 335,000 students and advisors join
SkillsUSA annually, organized into 18,000 chapters and 52 state and territorial associations. SkillsUSA
has served more than 12.5 million annual members cumulatively since 1965. SkillsUSA improves the
quality of our nation’s future skilled workforce through the development of personal, workplace and
technical skills grounded in academics. More than 600 business, industry and labor organizations support
SkillsUSA at the national level through financial aid, in-kind contributions and involvement in SkillsUSA
activities. Documented support to the SkillsUSA Championships is valued at more than $36 million.
Since 1968, Southeastern Technical Institute has provided adults with training in several vocational areas,
constantly striving to meet the training needs of our students and area businesses. STI is a non-profit,
public school that offers day and evening programs including Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Dental
Assisting, Electricity, HVAC, Medical Assisting, Plumbing and Practical Nurse. In addition, there are
