Although the hockey team and the boys’ swimming team dropped their season openers last week,sports had a strong start to the winter as boys basketball (vs. Attleboro), girls’ swimming (vs. Franklin), wrestling (vs. Stoughton) and winter track (vs. Foxborough) all had impressive league victories.
This week, OA sports teams will look to generate some momentum before the holidays. Here is a further look at the week ahead.

Basketball
One OA basketball team will look to go 2-0, while the girls prepare for the start of the 2011-12 season.

Tuesday night, head coach Elaine Clement-Holbrook leads her girls’ basketball team onto to the Nixon Gymnasium floor for the first time when they host Sharon, which dropped its season opener to Canton Friday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, coach Don Byron and the OA boys travel to Sharon to face an up and coming Eagle squad that started its season at 1-0 after defeating Canton. Tipoff in Sharon is also slated for a 6:30 start.
Both teams conclude the week with non-league matchups Thursday (girls vs. Duxbury at 7:15) and Friday (boys vs. Southeastern Regional at 6:30) at the Nixon Gymnasium.
Wrestling
Fresh off its appearance at the Taunton Invitational, the OA wrestling team will look to get its second dual-meet victory of the season at North Attleboro on Monday before traveling to Marshfield for the Marshfield Invitational on Friday. Both meets are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
Hockey
After starting the season with a 2-0 loss to North Attleboro last Wednesday, first year coach Jim Sullivan and the OA hockey team will look to bounce back when they travel to Quincy for a non-league matchup Wednesday night at 7:20.
Swimming
While the OA boys swimming squad dropped a close decision to Franklin, the girls made up for it with a victory over the same Panther squad last Friday in the team’s first meet of the season.
This week, coach Lauren Gray and company will host King Phillip for a Hockomock League inter-division matchup Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Track and Field
After defeating Foxborough 71-24 in dual-meet action this past Saturday, head coach Mike Darling and the OA winter track teams have the week off from competition.
The Tigers, who are 2-0 on the season, resume their quest for another Small Hock championship against Sharon on Dec. 28 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
