Hockey continues its march to a birth in the state tournament, while girls basketball looks to go a perfect 8-0 in Davenport Division play.

Last week in sports, the boys' and girls' basketball teams clinched a birth in the Division 2 state tournament, while the hockey team captured victories against Foxborough and Stoughton and the boys and girls winter track teams finished third in the Hockomock Championships.

The Tigers also got some impressive individual accomplishments from freshman diver Jacquey Gover, who finished fourth in the state swimming sectionals a week after her first place finish in the Hockomock Championships last week; Laura Daley and Emily Grotz, who captuared individual titles in the shotput and 1000-meter events, respectively, in the Hockomock Track Championships; and senior forward Mason Pires lifted the boys basketball team to its 10th win of the season after a .

This week, the hockey team looks to inch closer to another tournament birth while the girls’ basketball team looks to finish with a perfect record in Davenport Division play

Here’s your look ahead to this weeks slate.

1. On Tuesday, the OA girls' basketball team (12-4 overall, 9-3 Hockomock League, 7-0 Davenport Division) will look to finish a perfect 8-0 in Davenport Division play when they travel to Foxborough for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff. The Lady Tigers were 28-of-54 from the field in their first meeting with the Warriors back on January 25th en route to a 69-60 victory.

On Friday, the Tigers will be hosting a game in the Hockomock Crossover. Patch will have more details later in the week.

2. After defeating fellow division foes Foxborough and Stoughton last week to improve to 7-6-3 overall (17 points), Dan Scott’s OA hockey squad has a couple of important non-league games beginning with a home contest against Pembroke today at 4:30 p.m. at ASIAF Rink and continuing Wednesday with another home game against Brockton at 7:30 p.m. The team will conclude the week with a contest in the Hockomock Crossover on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Details will be given later this week.

The hockey team needs just three points to clinch a birth in the state tournament.

3. With a tournament birth all wrapped up, Don Byron’s squad will look to clinch at least a share of the Davenport Division crown when they host Foxborough Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. A win and a Stoughton loss against Canton will give the team a share of the crown, despite losing twice to the Knights.

The boys team will travel to North Attleboro to take part in its contest for the Hockomock Crossover.

4. After their impressive third place finish in the Hockomock Championships, the Tigers track teams will look to continue their momentum sustained from Saturday’s race in the Class B championships this coming Saturday at 9 a.m. in the Reggie Lewis Center. Daley, Grotz, Michaela Nichols, Jillian McAuliffe Jon Raduazzo, MacKenzie Copley and Sean Gorham will be amongst the notable members in this week’s race.

5. With February vacation beginning next week, here’s a look at some of the events for the week of Feb. 20-25.

Boys Basketball will face Duxbury on Sunday in the first round of the Harry Lehmann Memorial Board 54 IAABO tournament hosted by Bridgewater-Raynham High School. They will either face Bridgewater-Raynham or Marshfield in the next round.

The hockey team will also be in Bridgewater to take part in the Bridgewater tournament starting Monday in its first round contest with B-R.

And finally, the girls' basketball team will take part in the annual Walpole tournament beginning next Tuesday in its first round matchup with the Rebels. It will face either Dighton-Rehoboth or Medfield next Wednesday to conclude the two-day tournament.
