Two Arrested for Counterfeit Money

Easton police arrested an Easton man and a Weymouth man after an investigation involving couterfeit bills.

worked with the Mansfield Police Department yesterday to arrest two individuals for possession of couterfeit currency.

Michael Berksza, 20, of King Arthur Rd, Easton and Ryan Endres, 21, of 35 Erville Road, Weymouth were arrested after being stopped for a traffic violation by Mansfield police.

Easton Police Chief Allen Krajcik said Easton detectives were conducting an investigation on the two individuals after several Easton stores had reported customers attempting to use counterfeit $20 bills. As part of the investigation, Easton Police notified nearby police stations and Mansfield Police quickly reported the individuals to Easton.

Krajcik said there were 15 counterfeit bills inside the vehicle. In the trunk of the car, there was a sterling silver tea set that these two individuals attempted to turn in to a pawn shop.

"Police are attempting to find out where this item came from and have contacted area departments to see if it had been reported stolen," Krajcik said.

Kerksza and Endres were also questioned by the U.S. Secret Service before being released on bail yesterday. They were scheduled to be arraigned in Taunton District Court this morning.
