STI added two new adult education programs during the 2014/2015 academic year. Cosmetology and Culinary Arts are the latest additions!

The Southeastern Technical Institute unveiled two new post-secondary programs during the 2014/2015 school year. In September, the evening Culinary Arts program began their inaugural year by enrolling eight students. After three months of intense training, the students and staff opened the Colonial Room on Tuesday nights in December, andby their last night of operation in March, the restaurant was filled to capacity and beyond. All of the students participated in 200 hour externships with regional hospitality vendors such as: Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse in Foxborough, Kate’s Table Catering in Hingham, Lavishly Dunn Catering in Rockland, Brockton Country Club in Brockton, Sturdy Hospital in Attleboro, Hannaford’s in-store bakery in Easton, and Montilio’s Bakery in Brockton. All of the Culinary Arts students graduated on June 9th, and are now actively pursuing careers in the hospitality industry.

In March, 18 students began their 1000 hour training to become licensed cosmetologists. During the spring 2015 trimester the students were exposed to all of the basics of hair, nail, and skin care. In the fall of 2015, the cosmetology clinic will open 1 – 2 nights per week to family, friends, and outside patrons. In the spring of 2016, STI’s first adult cosmetology class will be practicing advanced techniques, as they prepare for their state boards, and careers in the cosmetology industry.

Southeastern Technical Institute is currently enrolling in all of their programs for the fall 2015 semester. STI offers adult education courses in Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Dental Assisting, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning, Medical Assisting, and Practical Nurse. Financial aid is available in all of these courses to students that qualify. For more information, attend Open House on Tuesday, June 23rd from 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM, visit www.sti-tech.org, or call 508-230-1297.
