Victim in Easton Shooting Dies from Injuries

EASTON, MA — A former Easton man found shot Tuesday has died.

The Bristol Country District Attorney's office announced that Daniel Smith, 35, of Florida, died Friday night at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

At 1:06 p.m. Tuesday, Easton police received a 911 call from a woman who told police that her young sons, while riding their bikes in the woods near Pond Street and Langwater Pond, found a man that was shot.
The man, identified as Daniel G. Smith, 35, formerly of Easton, was found about 25 yards into the woods, the District Attorney's office said. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton before being flow to Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Police are looking for a red 2016 Mazda 6 that may be connected to the shooting. The DA's office says the sedan has a Florida license plate with the tag number 372QQK.
