Washington and Purchase Accident Sends One to Hospital via Helicopter

Medflight was requested Friday morning after a two-car accident on Washington and Purchase.

A 28-year-old man was flown by helicopter to Mass. General hospital in Boston Friday morning after the side of his vehicle was truck by another vehicle while traveling down Washington Street.

The victim was heading south on route 138 at approximately 7 a.m. when another vehicle attempted to cross Washington Street while heading west on Purchase street. The victim suffered an upper arm injury and severe lower leg injury with multiple broken bones, fire officials said. His drivers side door was collapsed to the passenger side of the vehicle.

The driver on Purchase Street was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries, officials said.

Elevator Stuck at Oliver Ames

Emergency officials responded to a call at Wednesday at approximately 9:45 p.m. about a party stuck in an elevator.

The party was eventually removed from the elevator.

There was a malfunction due to a lighting strike, officials said.

Vehicle Fire on Eastman Street

Two fire units were sent to Eastman Street Wednesday for a reported truck fire at approximately 3 p.m.

Rubbish contents were burning inside the truck, and fire officials extinguished the fire. There were no injuries or damage to the truck.

Officials said the operator was going to dump the garbage in New Bedford.
