• Encore Boston Harbor workers weigh strike authorization as contract expiration nears (boston25news.com) — More than 1,300 workers at Encore Boston Harbor in Everett are voting this week on whether to authorize a strike as their contract with Wynn Resorts nears its August 31 expiration. Union members say they want a deal that keeps more profits in the local community, with results of the strike authorization to be announced Thursday evening.
   

• OBITUARY: Ruth Castaldo, 107 (wilmingtonapple.com) — A 107-year-old woman who was born in Everett in 1918 is remembered for a life of military service, family devotion, and community involvement across Massachusetts, Maine, and Florida. Her family will celebrate her life at a Wilmington funeral home on September 12, followed by a gathering with food and drinks.
