• DiLoreto to lead Everett football against Arlington on Friday (everettindependent.com) — Everett High football opens its 2026 season at home Friday night against Arlington, led by new head coach and vice principal Rob DiLoreto, an Everett native with deep ties to both schools. A freshman quarterback, Michael Walsh, whose grandfather once captained Everett High, will start under center as the Crimson Tide unveil a retooled offense and experienced coaching staff.
• Everett residents 50 and older invited to participate in Golden Gears Program (everettindependent.com) — Everett residents aged 50 and older can sign up now for a free Golden Gears bikeshare confidence clinic at Rivergreen Park on September 27. MassDOT and an AARP grant are backing hands-on instruction, guided rides, and peer support to help older adults feel safer and more comfortable using bikeshare and other active transportation options right in Everett.
• Everett stands with the community for International Overdose Awareness Day (everettindependent.com) — Everett residents, city leaders, and first responders recently gathered at Glendale Park to honor lives lost to overdose and highlight local recovery resources. Speakers, including Mayor Robert J. Van Campen and residents in long-term recovery, emphasized Everett's progress in sharply reducing overdoses while stressing that the city remains committed to prevention, support, and compassionate help for anyone struggling with addiction.
