2 Arrested In Falmouth Drug Bust, Following High-Speed Chase: Police

The men, both residents of Edgartown, face charges of cocaine trafficking and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

FALMOUTH, MA — Police have arrested two men in Falmouth on drug trafficking charges, according to a statement late Friday.

Mateus Souza de Oliveira, 33, and Keslley Luiz Xavier, 32, both of Edgartown, face allegations of trafficking in cocaine and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Falmouth police arrested the men around 9 p.m. Thursday after spotting them driving at more than 90 mph on Route 28. The stop followed a previous investigation by the Oak Bluffs Police Department.

A task force of police from Falmouth and Oak Bluffs, the Barnstable County sheriff’s department and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration later found 408 grams of cocaine, as well as pills and narcotics paraphernalia, inside the vehicle.

The men were brought to the Barnstable County jail and were being held on $10,000 bail.
