2 Outdoor Movie Theaters Opening In Falmouth

With the Barnstable County Fair and other summer events canceled, the fairgrounds partnered with Vivid Event Productions to open a drive-in.

FALMOUTH, MA — Two outdoor movie theaters were approved to open in Falmouth by the Select Board Thursday.

The board approved special permits for a drive-in theater at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds and for movies on the lawn at the Falmouth Public Library.

With the Barnstable County Fair and other summer events canceled, the fairgrounds partnered with Vivid Event Productions to create the drive-in, the Cape Cod Times reported.

The Falmouth Drive-in is expected to open in late July and show movies every day except Wednesday until late October. The gates will open at 6 p.m., and will include local musicians and comedians prior to movies starting.

On Wednesdays, when the drive-in is closed, the Falmouth Public Library and the Falmouth Village Association plan to host "Movies Under the Stars," starting July 15. The movies will be free, family friendly and go until Aug. 26.
