2 Teens Seriously Injured In Cape Cod Crash

The crash catapulted a 16-year-old and a 19-year-old from the car after they struck a boulder.

MASHPEE, MA — Two teenagers suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted after crashing their car into a boulder on off Echo Road in Mashpee.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m., Friday near Mashpee Pond and the Otis Air National Guard base. Emergency officials found a mangled sedan that crashed into a boulder as big as the car, police said.

The crash catapulted a 16-year-old and a 19-year-old from the car. Fire Chief Thomas Rullo told the Cape Cod Times. The dashboard and the car's engine landed on top of the teens, he said.

Both teens had to be airlifted, one to Massachusetts General Hospital, and the other to Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

Investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the crash.
