21 in Truro Artists Show at Falmouth Art Center
The Twenty-One in Truro Artists is currently showing in the Landrau-Partan Gallery at Falmouth Art Center through June 28.
More than 20 years ago, a group of prominent Cape Cod artists decided to organize a one-week “retreat” in Truro. Renting cottages overlooking the scenic Pamet River, they painted en plein air, or outside, during the day and gathered for artist camaraderie in the evenings. The retreat went so well, they did it again the following year. And the next year as well.
Taking only one year off—2020 because of the pandemic—the group, which calls itself Twenty-one in Truro, will gather again in Truro this fall.
A show that captures the individual artists’ distinct styles, Blue: The Twenty-One in Truro Artists, is currently showing in the Landrau-Partan Gallery at Falmouth Art Center through June 28.

Many of the works feature the color blue prominently. But another sense of “blue,” said Jane Lincoln of East Falmouth, one of the artists, refers to the fact that last year the group did not convene. “There is a celebratory feeling that shows in these works as we anticipate being together,” she said.
In addition to Ms. Lincoln, the following 18 artists are in the show: M’Lou Sorrin of Hurley, New York; Suzanne M. Packer of Bass River; Jane Eccles of Orleans; Susan Hollis of Harwich; Michele Dangelo of Brewster; Heather Blume of Harwichport, Julie Olander of Bonita Springs, Florida; Maryalice Eizenberg of Chatham; Christie Velesig of Mashpee, Carol Odell of Chatham; Rosalie Nadeau of Orleans; Joyce Zavorskas of Orleans; Lorraine Trenholm of Ignacio, Colorado; Kate Nelson of Brewster; Jerre Moriarty of East Sandwich; Martine Jore of Santa Fe, New Mexico; JoAnn Ritter of Brewster; and Linda Young of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The Falmouth Art Center located at 137 Gifford Street in Falmouth is free and open to the public daily, Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm; Saturday 10am to 2pm and Sunday 1 to 4pm. For more information, go to FalmouthArt.org or call 508-540-3304.
