WOODS HOLE, MA — The community is rallying around a seaside restaurant damaged in a fire last week. The two-alarm fire at Water Street Kitchen started during the middle of dinner on Friday, July 26, according to a GoFundMe campaign for the restaurant.

Fire crews went to the scene around 10:21 p.m. and found smoke coming from a concealed part of the kitchen, the Falmouth Fire-Rescue Department said. The fire was quickly located and brought under control.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries while fighting the blaze, according to the department. The fire, which is believed to be accidental, caused significant damage to walls, ceilings, electrical equipment and key equipment, and the building inspector has closed the restaurant pending major repairs.
