5 Things You Need to Know Today, 3/17

A benefit concert and more for March 17.

1) Today will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 44. Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 40. 

2) March is “It’s Not Easy Being Green Month” at the .  In association with the Main Gallery exhibition, artist Sue Beardsley will lead a free workshop on Found Object Sculpture this morning at 10am. Drop in and bring your recycled, re-purposed material to include in your own sculpture! 3) Do you save spare coins often found in your car, couch, washer/dryer, pockets, and purse? Today from 11am-1pm, volunteers will collect and count coin donations at the . Help celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by changing your coins into green bills that will help pay for Dog Park driveway repairs! All donations are tax deductible, and those donating will receive a letter stating so. A prize will be awarded to the highest donor. Your support will help keep the Falmouth Dog Park dry, safe, and fun!

4) The Falmouth Chorale will present Handel's Samson tonight at 7:30pm and tomorrow at 3pm at , with a lecture with Dr. Robert Wyatt one hour before each performance. This dramatic oratorio by George Frideric Handel translates into music John Milton’s dark and dense play "Samson Agonistes." Tenor Ray Bauwens sings the title role, joined by Sarah Callinan, soprano, Kara Cornell, mezzo-soprano, and Philip Lima, bass. 5) Come on out to the  tonight at 7:30pm to dance away the winter blues at a benefit concert for Compassionate Care ALS and Wings for Falmouth Families. Musical act the Flip Side is a local duo featuring Melissa Roberts Weidman on bass and lead vocals and Chris LoCascio on piano and vocals, performing with other musicians, including drums, guitar, harmonica and saxophone. Tickets are $10 at the door.
