2) The Falmouth Soccer Club (FSC) will host its Fourth Annual Joe Kirk Memorial Tournament beginning at 9am today at the . This year the all-day tournament will include small-sided games, raffle prizes, free tournament t-shirts, and snacks. The team mascot and staff from the New England Revolution will have a booth and be selling tickets for the Third Annual Falmouth Soccer Club Night at a Revolution home game this season. As always, all the funds raised during this event will be donated to help a family within the greater Falmouth soccer community who is in need of financial assistance as they deal with a financial, medical or other hardship. 3) Noted nonfiction author (and Martha’s Vineyard resident) Tony Horwitz will be speaking about the Civil War today at 2pm at the auditorium. His discussion will include his new book Midnight Rising: John Brown and the Raid That Sparked the Civil War. He will also discuss unhealed scars left in the South by the War Between the States. This event is open to the public free of charge, with support from the Friends of the Falmouth Public Library. will provide copies of both books for sale and signing at this event. 4) The will screen a free kids' film today at 3pm. Because of the contract the library has with the movie company, the actual title of films cannot be named in publicity, but riddles may be posed! This film is based on a children’s graphic novel series (back when they were called comics) originating in France. It was released in 2011 and nominated for an Oscar for animation. 5) The Falmouth Chamber Players Orchestra, under the direction of John Yankee, will present its winter concert tonight at 7:30pm at . On the program is Corelli’s Concerto Grosso, Opus 6, No. 2; Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 in D Major (“Haffner”), and Incidental Music from Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” some parts performed with the Falmouth Chamber Chorale.
