5 Things You Need to Know Today, 4/1

1) Today we'll have a chance of showers, mainly after 1pm. It will be partly sunny, with a high near 49. Tonight we'll have a chance of showers before 5am. It will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. 

2) Come on out to the  today from 12-3pm for the Second Annual Bridal Fair. Donations will be accepted for the Food Pantry, and vendors will include florists, jewelry, cakes, photographers, attire, music, caterers, and more. Meet and talk with local professionals who can help you plan the perfect day!

3) The Coalition for Children and the Cape Cod Conservatory Preschool are co-sponsoring "Musical Mother Goose" today from 1-3pm at the Cape Cod Conservatory Preschool, 80 Highfield Drive in Falmouth. Parents and children are invited to this fun-filled afternoon. Explore the musicality of classic nursery rhymes through the use of hands-on instruments like shakers and rhythm sticks. There will be singing, dancing, and movement; children can create their own take-home book of rhymes, and parents will learn how early childhood music experiences build lifelong literacy. For more information, contact Carolyn Minervino at 508-548-0151, ext. 128.

4) The Woods Hole Folk Music Society's 40th season will continue today at 7:30pm in the  with a performance by the Old Time Bluegrass Singers. The band plays classic bluegrass, the high-energy American string band music with roots in country, old-time dance band, and gospel music traditions. They have shared their enjoyment of this lively music with audiences across the country! Tickets are $15; doors open at 7pm. 

5) This day in history: the April Fools Day tradition is popularized (1700); U.S. troops land on Okinawa (1945); and the soap opera General Hospital premieres (1963).
