4) Gerry Wright will perform his original one-man play interpreting the life and work of Walt Whitman today at 3pm at the . Whitman’s revolutionary poetry, evolving through six editions of Leaves of Grass, is as meaningful and soul-stirring as when the first edition was issued in 1855. Follow Whitman's life from his early years on rural Long Island as he bonded with nature, to his adult life undertaking diverse occupations including carpenter, teacher and newspaper editor. The "What’s Falmouth Reading" Committee offers this program to the public free of charge.

5) The final concert of the Woods Hole Folk Music Society's 40th season will be held this evening with a performance by folksinging duo Steve Gillette and Cindy Mangsen. The concert takes place at 7:30pm in the . Steve Gillette and Cindy Mangsen specialize in traditional and contemporary folk songs and instrumental music, with forays into ragtime guitar and early jazz. They are known for their warm onstage rapport, for the blending of their voices as they exchange melody and harmony, for their original compositions and collaborations with other composers, and for their accompaniment on guitar, banjo, concertina and mountain dulcimer. Tickets are $15 at the door.
