5 Things You Need to Know Today, 4/30

A golf challenge to benefit kids and more for April 30.

1) Today will be sunny, with a high near 51. Tonight we'll have a chance of showers, mainly after 4am, with a low around 44. 

2) The  invites you to dust off your clubs and hit the links to help kids in your community. Join them for the "Chipping for the Children Challenge!" today from 7:45am-3pm at . The championship course will serve as the track for friendly competition as you make your way through 18 holes with your four-person team in a best-ball format. Chef Roland's Catering will be waiting for you at the completion of the round, along with a silent auction, 50/50, and raffle prizes to be claimed. 3) Today at 1:30pm, attorney Patricia Mello will give an interactive presentation at the that will discuss the importance of estate planning, with an emphasis on asset preservation and disability planning documents, such as durable power of attorney and health care proxy versus when a guardianship may be the chosen alternative to such disability planning documents. Other topics of discussion will include who needs to create a last will and testament and how probate administration of your estate can be avoided, as well as what a revocable trust is and for whom it may be appropriate. 4) Tonight at 7:30pm at the will be a screening of three short films by Kristin Alexander. 02543 is a view from the other side of the mail slot at the Woods Hole Post Office. Postmaster Roger Gamache is featured along with music from his band Stage Door Canteen. The film premiered at the Woods Hole Film Festival in 2011, where it won an award for Best Film in the Cape Cod Section. Green Eco-Machine is a story about ecological designer Dr. John Todd and his natural method of water restoration. Portrait of a Master is an inside look at the creative process of local artist Doug Rugh. This short film showed in the Woods Hole Film Festival and Payomet Arts Center in Truro. There will be a Q&A after the screen about the filmmaking process.
