A D-Day lecture and more for June 6.

1) Today we'll have scattered showers after noon. It will be partly sunny, with a high near 65. Tonight we'll have scattered showers, mainly before 10pm. It will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. 

2) The will hold a chair yoga class for seniors today and every Wednesday at 11am. Yoga is a gentle, relaxing and meditative practice which is centuries old and has many benefits, such as stress reduction, lowered blood pressure and clear thinking. If interested, please call the Senior Center to register at 508-540-0196.

3) Join the Falmouth Young Professionals at the Pink Polka Dot in Queens Buyway, 43 North Main Street, this evening from 5:30–7:30pm to make business connections and catch up with acquaintances. Delectable morsels will be catered by Sean Dailey from Eat Your Heart Out Catering, and beverages will be supplied by the Pink Polka Dot. Non-members are welcome to join in. A “Young Professional” is defined as ages 21–40, or simply the young at heart. 4) Tonight at 7pm at , Falmouth Historical Society Director Mark Schmidt—former director of the Museum of World War II—will discuss the Enigma machine, how the Allies successfully uncovered its secrets, and the chicanery that the Allies devised to keep the Germans from discovering when and where the invasion would occur. Tickets are $5 each, but members of Historic Highfield, as well as the Falmouth Historical Society, are admitted for $4 each. 5) This day in history: the first drive-in movie theater opens (1933); D-Day takes place on the beaches of Normandy (1944); and Sex in the City premieres on HBO (1998).
