After Water Warning, H2O Is Safe To Drink, Falmouth Officials Say

The Falmouth Water Department had previously cautioned residents not to use water drawn from taps on or before April 7.

FALMOUTH, MA — After a water-quality scare this week, there’s now no reason to be concerned, officials say.

New test results prompted the Falmouth Water Department on Friday afternoon to say the problem was corrected and that it’s “no longer necessary to be concerned about the ice or water you may have saved for future uses.”

The town had earlier issued a warning that residents should not use water dispensed on or before April 7, due to potential bacteria contamination.

Falmouth shut down the well that was believed to be affected, and since then has conducted other testing and consulted with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.

The water source was identified as the Mares Pond Well, in West Falmouth, one of four municipal wells in the town.
