Police Search For Man Who Broke Into Falmouth House, Assaulted Resident

An initial manhunt for the suspect was unsuccessful, and police are urging residents to be cautious.

FALMOUTH, MA — Police are investigating an assault that occurred Monday night after a man broke into a house in the Ashumet Valley neighborhood.

Officers rushed to an Austin Stokes Drive home around 9:41 p.m. in response to the report of an assault in progress, according to a statement late Tuesday. But the suspect fled before police arrived.

Residents said the unknown man entered the house through a window and assaulted one of the occupants. Police searched the neighborhood with help from a Mashpee Police K9 unit and a Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office drone team, but did not find the suspect.

He’s described as a white man, between 25 and 30, with a stocky build, facial hair and a crew-cut hairstyle. He was last seen wearing blue pants and a blue jacket with an emblem on the side.

Falmouth police are urging residents to lock doors and windows, keep outdoor lights on at night, report suspicious activity, and review any home surveillance footage from the area.

Anyone with information or surveillance footage related to the incident is asked to contact Detective Andrew Loewen at 774-255-4527 ext. 4521 or Andrew.Loewen@falmouthpolicema.gov.
