Honorees Announced for Walk for Hope

Housing Assistance recognizes local organizations.

This post was contributed by a community member.

As part of this year’s Walk for Hope, Housing Assistance will honor two community organizations whose compassion and commitment embody the spirit of caring for others.

The three-mile walks will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, in Falmouth, Hyannis, and Orleans. Originally founded as the Walk to End Homelessness, the event serves as a Cape-wide call to action, bringing neighbors, partners and advocates together around a shared purpose. “This year, we are intentionally returning to that spirit as we continue our efforts to relocate St. Joseph’s House shelter and highlight the collective work required to meet the evolving needs of our community,” said Christa Danilowicz, Chief Advancement Officer at Housing Assistance.

The honoree tradition, introduced last year, recognizes individuals and organizations whose generosity and commitment to others reflect the heart of the agency’s mission. The Walk for Hope is grounded in a simple but powerful belief: that together, we can solve homelessness and create lasting change.

In that spirit, Housing Assistance is proud to honor two organizations that exemplify this shared commitment across the Cape:

* Falmouth: Belonging to Each Other, represented by executive director Gina Torielli
* Hyannis: Homeless Not Hopeless, represented by Deacon Richard J. Murphy

“These honorees reflect the strength of communities across the region and the impact we can have when we work together,” said Danilowicz.

Walk locations include Peg Noonan Park in Falmouth, Veterans Memorial Park in Hyannis, and Hog Island Beer in Orleans. Registration is open for individuals, families, and teams across Cape Cod.

Registration is $25, which serves as a donation to support Housing Assistance’s vital work. Participants are also encouraged to raise additional funds to further strengthen programs ranging from homelessness prevention to housing counseling and beyond. Housing Assistance also works to address the root causes of housing instability – lack of inventory and lack of affordability – that affect almost all income levels in our region.
