Police Search For Man Who Broke Into Falmouth House, Assaulted Resident (patch.com) — Residents in Falmouth’s Ashumet Valley neighborhood are being urged to secure their homes after a man reportedly climbed through a window and assaulted an occupant on Austin Stokes Drive Monday night. The suspect fled before police arrived, prompting a search with a Mashpee K9 unit and a Barnstable County drone team, and detectives are now asking neighbors to review surveillance footage and share any information.
2. This 10.7-mile-long bike path is one of the most scenic near Boston—a converted rail trail stretching entirely along the ocean (bostonuncovered.com) — Falmouth residents and visitors can enjoy the Shining Sea Bikeway, a 10.7‑mile coastal path running between Woods Hole and Falmouth with ocean views nearly the entire way. The flat, paved trail passes salt marshes, Nobska Lighthouse, and conservation land, and it overlaps much of the famed Falmouth Road Race course. With rest areas, birdwatching, and nearby lodging, it’s an easy local day trip or staycation option.
3. This month's book show: poets and poetry (capeandislands.org) — Poetry lovers can look forward to the 27th Annual Katharine Lee Bates Poetry Fest in Falmouth, where prizes are awarded for local submissions. A recent book show also spotlighted poetry-themed novels, children’s books, and classic collections, with more recommendations from host Peter Abrahams coming soon.
4. ALS Is Stealing Their Bodies. These Moms and Dads Are Fighting to Keep Parenthood (today.com) — A young family now living in Falmouth is juggling the constant demands of ALS care while raising a toddler, with dad working remotely so he can support mom’s round-the-clock needs. Their story appears alongside several other parents nationwide who are redefining what motherhood and fatherhood look like while living with ALS, pushing for more research, funding, and time with their kids.
5. High school roundup/scores: Tori Adams makes it a three-peat for Walpole (bostonherald.com) — Falmouth High teams are making noise in the state tournaments, with girls lacrosse routing North Middlesex 18–5 and boys tennis sweeping Maimonides 5–0 in Division 3 play. A busy slate of sectional and state playoff action across Massachusetts also saw Walpole’s Tori Adams win a third straight girls golf South Sectional title and several Cape and South Shore schools advance.
