β’ Fifth West Nile-positive mosquito sample reported in Falmouth (capecodtimes.com) β Falmouth has logged its fifth West Nile-positive mosquito sample this season, including a new detection off Woods Hole Road on August 25, putting the town at a moderate risk level. Local and state health officials are focusing mosquito control on affected areas and urging residents to eliminate standing water and avoid mosquito exposure at dusk and after dark, especially older adults and those with weakened immune systems.

(capecodtimes.com) β Cape Cod scientists at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution are launching a new Schiller Center for Reef Solutions to tackle global coral reef decline using tools like reef-sound playback, survey robots, and restoration tiles. Funded by a major endowed gift, the virtual center will support long-term research, field partnerships, and local hiring, with coverage that includes environmental issues affecting Falmouth and nearby towns.
