Join us for a one-of-a-kind paddleboarding experience on the serene waters of Salt Pond! In collaboration with Peace, Love &amp; SUP, we’re thrilled to offer an historical paddleboard journey that blends outdoor fun with local heritage.
Meet us at 12 noon on Wednesday, July 22, in the Salt Pond parking lot on Surf Drive. Amy from Peace, Love &amp; SUP will guide you through paddleboard basics before we set out to explore the pond’s natural beauty and fascinating history.
Expect calm waters, sunshine, and stories that bring Falmouth’s past to life — all while gliding across the pond on a paddleboard. Dress to get wet and don’t forget the SPF.
Tickets: $100 per person

Lifelong sailor Bill Womack visits the library with a fascinating look into the history of the Beetle Cat sailboat on Wednesday, July 22 at 5 p.m. Free and open to all.&nbsp;
This program is brought to you in partnership with the <a href="https://www.chapoquoityachtclub.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Chapoquoit Yacht Club</a>.
Join the owner of Beetle, Inc. at the library for this unique opportunity to dive into the history of the Beetle Cat, from the Beetle Whaleboats in the 1800s in New Bedford to the boat’s present-day construction at the Beetle Cat Boat Shop in Wareham, MA.
Growing up sailing Beetle Cats in the 1950s out on Onset Harbor, and a life-long love of traditional wooden sailing craft, made the opportunity to own and work with these timeless, classic boats perfect for Bill Womack. In addition to childhood experiences and personal interests, Bill also served in the United States Navy with Seabee Team 1110/1114 in South Vietnam from 1966 to 1970. A degree in Civil Engineering and over 40 years working in heavy highway construction as a Professional Engineer and Operations Manager, helped to prepare him for the important task of preserving the art of traditional plank-on-frame wood boat construction at the Beetle Boat Shop.

Historical Walking Tours of the 2026 season
The Cemetery Walking Tour will be held on Friday 5:30pm, note the meeting location below - July 17th &amp; 31st, and August 14th &amp; 28th.&nbsp;Also, Thursday, July 23rd at 10:30 am (more dates to come). 
Old Burying Ground: Grave Undertakings* 5:30pm 
From the most respected minister to the lowliest outcast, everyone in Falmouth ended up here eventually. See their markers and hear their stories as our tour guide leads you through this hidden gem of a cemetery.
* The Old Burying Ground tour meets at the top of Cemetery Lane.
Parking: Please park in the lot at 157 Locust Street. Use the crosswalk to cross Locust St. and head toward the large boulder of the Mariners’ Memorial. Opposite the Memorial, across Mill Rd., join your tour guide at the top of Cemetery Lane. Recommended for ages 13+ and those who can navigate uneven terrain.
Meeting Point: The Old Burying Ground tour begins at the top of Cemetery Lane. Free, suggested donation of $5pp. Limit of 20 people per walk, pre-registration required.

“Neurobiology of Thirst and Hunger Drives” Liqun Luo, Stanford University. 
Because of the utmost importance of water and food, animals exhibit&nbsp;strong innate behaviors to search for and consume water or food when&nbsp;they are thirsty or hungry. These innate drives are also powerful means&nbsp;for acquiring learned skills and behaviors. In this lecture, I will&nbsp;summarize our recent work linking thirst to motivated behavior and&nbsp;investigating neural dynamics underlying thirst motivation. I will&nbsp;further discuss how animals resolve competing needs, such as thirst and&nbsp;hunger, across time.Liqun Luo grew up in Shanghai, China. He received his bachelor's degree&nbsp;from the University of Science &amp; Technology of China, Ph.D. from&nbsp;Brandeis University, and postdoctoral training at UCSF. Together with&nbsp;his students and postdocs in his lab at Stanford University, Dr. Luo&nbsp;studies how neural circuits are assembled during development and how&nbsp;their architectures enable them to perform specific functions in adults.&nbsp;Dr. Luo is currently the Ann and Bill Swindells Professor of Humanities&nbsp;and Sciences, Professor of Biology, and Professor of Neurobiology by&nbsp;courtesy, at Stanford University. He is also an Investigator of the&nbsp;Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Dr. Luo teaches neurobiology to&nbsp;undergraduate and graduate students. His single-author textbook&nbsp;“Principles of Neurobiology” is widely used for undergraduate and&nbsp;graduate courses across the world. Dr. Luo is a Member of the National&nbsp;Academy of Sciences and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and&nbsp;Sciences, and recipient of many awards, including the Pradel Research&nbsp;Award and NAS Award in the Neurosciences from the National Academy of&nbsp;Sciences, and the Edward M. Scolnick Prize in Neuroscience.

Sea Stars Early Learning Center

Sea Stars Early Learning Center offers a balanced program that incorporates play-based learning, structured lessons, and physical activities. Children are encouraged to explore their interests, whether through music, art, science, or outdoor exploration. There’s a focus on developmental milestones, including fine motor skills, communication, and social interaction. The facility focuses on helping children develop strong social skills through group activities, games, and cooperative learning. There’s an emphasis on emotional intelligence, teaching kids how to manage their feelings and resolve conflicts peacefully. Our amazing helps kids learn to share, collaborate, and support one another, fostering a sense of community. The facility embraces children from all backgrounds and is sensitive to cultural differences, making sure all children feel accepted and valued. The facility features a large, secure outdoor play area with age-appropriate equipment. Children spend plenty of time outdoors, engaging in physical play and exploring nature. There may also be gardening activities. The building is designed with child safety in mind, featuring soft corners, non-toxic materials, and secure fencing around outdoor areas. Access points are monitored and locked to ensure only authorized individuals can enter. There’s a first aid kit and trained staff on hand at all times to handle any emergencies. The classrooms and play areas are spotless, with an abundance of natural light streaming in through large windows. The space is well-organized, with age-appropriate toys, books, and learning materials accessible to children. There’s a cozy reading nook, art stations, and sensory play areas where kids can explore their creativity. Our staff is certified in child development, first aid, and CPR, but they also have a genuine passion for working with children. Melissa Anderson and Leigh-Ellen Ferreira are two Falmouth natives who have spent many years working with children.
