A Falmouth Letter to the Gold Rush—A detailed and poignant letter from the teenage son of Jabez Swift to his father at the California Gold Rush in summer 1849 reveals the hardships faced by families left behind by gold-seekers; included are remarks about an amusing local scandal. The full letter will be shared and illustrated for all who are interested in Falmouth local history in the mid-nineteenth century.

Historical Walking Tours of the 2026 season
The Cemetery Walking Tour will be held on Friday 4:30pm, note the meeting location below – &nbsp;Friday, Sept 11 &amp; 25th, 4:30pm.
Old Burying Ground: Grave Undertakings* 4:30pm From the most respected minister to the lowliest outcast, everyone in Falmouth ended up here eventually. See their markers and hear their stories as our tour guide leads you through this hidden gem of a cemetery.&nbsp; * The Old Burying Ground tour meets at the top of Cemetery Lane.&nbsp;
Parking: Please park in the lot at 157 Locust Street. Use the crosswalk to cross Locust St. and head toward the large boulder of the Mariners’ Memorial. Opposite the Memorial, across Mill Rd., join your tour guide at the top of Cemetery Lane.
Recommended for ages 13+ and those who can navigate uneven terrain.
Meeting Point: The Old Burying Ground tour begins at the top of Cemetery Lane.
Free, suggested donation of $5pp.

West Falmouth Library presents guitarist and composer <a href="https://hiroyatsukamoto.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Hiroya Tsukamoto</a>, on Friday, September 25 at 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person.
“A Journey Through Strings and Stories”: Tsukamoto brings a blend of masterful fingerstyle guitar and evocative storytelling that transcends cultural barriers. His artistry, honed at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, has been celebrated on renowned stages like the Blue Note in NYC and the United Nations, and lauded for its “delicate, fluid, and beautifully detailed” style by Acoustic Guitar magazine.
Tsukamoto’s concerts are not just musical events; they are immersive experiences that weave lyrical narratives with intricate melodies. Recognized for his soulful performances that create an orchestra at his fingertips, he invites audiences into his world of musical exploration and emotional expression. This is a rare opportunity to witness a performer who has been celebrated for his ability to take listeners on an “impressionistic journey” (Boston Herald). Enchanting music that promises to resonate long after the final note is played.
Hiroya Tsukamoto is a Japanese-born fingerstyle guitarist who moved to the United States in 2000 to attend the Berklee College of Music. Needless to say, he’s not only a dizzyingly agile fingerpicker, but a soulful and transcendent performer, with compositions that combine instrumental guitar work with lyrical performance and spoken stories from his life.
Tsukamoto has been recognized for his talents on stages such as at Blue Note in New York City, Japanese National Television (NHK), International Storytelling Center and United Nations, and by scoring second place at the International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship both in 2018 and 2022.

Men’s Ministries Welcomes Men of all Ages
Falmouth Baptist Church’s Men’s Ministries welcomes men of all ages to their Saturday morning Bible study from 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM. This Saturday, the emphasis will be on Galatians&nbsp;5:1-12, Walk by the Spirit. 
&nbsp;The hour will include a time of teaching, conversation, fellowship, and prayer. COME, JOIN THE DISCUSSION! Coffee and light refreshments will be available.

Join us for the 2nd annual Cape Cod Pottery Trail! This self-guided trail offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the people and places where Cape Cod pottery is made. With 16 locations on the 2026 trail map and multiple artists at some locations, visitors can experience an extraordinary range of ceramic work—from wheel-thrown and slipcast functional ware to hand-built sculpture, jewelry, raku and wood-fired pieces. Many of these spaces are not open to the public outside the Trail, making the weekend a unique opportunity to meet the artists, see their creative processes, and purchase work directly from the makers. The Trail is free and open to everyone. There is no starting point or route. Visitors already on-Cape can jump onto the trail at any location, while those arriving from off-Cape often begin at the Sagamore location. Download a map from the Pottery Trail website. For an added element of fun, this map doubles as a Pottery Passport which provides space to collect a stamp at each stop. Complete the passport and turn it in at the final stop for a chance to win a handmade piece created by one of the Trail artists. September 25, 5-7pm Kick Off the Weekend at the Preview Party Get the hottest ticket in town! Join us for a festive evening event where you will meet the makers, see (and purchase) samples of their work, connect with the thriving pottery community – all while enjoying food and drink in the beautiful garden setting. This acclaimed autobiographical work reveals the emotional cost of hidden family history and the secrets that shape who we are. Proceeds from the event will support Ikamva Labantu, a South African NGO&nbsp; that has provided services for the youngest and the oldest of the most vulnerable in the townships of Cape Town for more than 60 years.

Sea Stars Early Learning Center offers a balanced program that incorporates play-based learning, structured lessons, and physical activities. Children are encouraged to explore their interests, whether through music, art, science, or outdoor exploration. There’s a focus on developmental milestones, including fine motor skills, communication, and social interaction. The facility focuses on helping children develop strong social skills through group activities, games, and cooperative learning. There’s an emphasis on emotional intelligence, teaching kids how to manage their feelings and resolve conflicts peacefully. Our amazing helps kids learn to share, collaborate, and support one another, fostering a sense of community. The facility embraces children from all backgrounds and is sensitive to cultural differences, making sure all children feel accepted and valued. The facility features a large, secure outdoor play area with age-appropriate equipment. Children spend plenty of time outdoors, engaging in physical play and exploring nature. There may also be gardening activities. The building is designed with child safety in mind, featuring soft corners, non-toxic materials, and secure fencing around outdoor areas. Access points are monitored and locked to ensure only authorized individuals can enter. There’s a first aid kit and trained staff on hand at all times to handle any emergencies. The classrooms and play areas are spotless, with an abundance of natural light streaming in through large windows. The space is well-organized, with age-appropriate toys, books, and learning materials accessible to children. There’s a cozy reading nook, art stations, and sensory play areas where kids can explore their creativity. Our staff is certified in child development, first aid, and CPR, but they also have a genuine passion for working with children. Melissa Anderson and Leigh-Ellen Ferreira are two Falmouth natives who have spent many years working with children.
