Cape Cod Cooperative Bank Robbery Suspect In Custody
An Onset man will face charges in the unarmed robbery of Cape Cod Cooperative Bank this week.
SANDWICH, MA — One person is in custody for the unarmed robbery of a Sandwich branch of Cape Cod Cooperative Bank, police said.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Thomas Briand Jr., 44, of Onset on Thursday.
Shortly before 10 a.m., police executed a stop of the vehicle Briand was traveling in on Route 495 in Wareham. Briand was taken into custody without incident, police said.

He was booked at the Sandwich Police Department and was scheduled to be arraigned on unarmed robbery charges in Barnstable District Court.
On Wednesday around 4 p.m., Sandwich police officers responded to a panic alarm from the Cape Cod Cooperative Bank.

Briand allegedly entered the bank and demanded money from one of the tellers. No weapon was shown and the suspect's face was covered, police said.
The teller followed the suspect’s directions, at which time he fled the bank on foot.
There were no customers in the bank at the time of the robbery and none of the bank staff were injured.
