Cape Cod Man Charged With Attempted Bank Robbery

A Mashpee man passed a note to a Dorchester bank teller that said he had a gun. The teller refused him money, and now he faces charges.

DORCHESTER, MA — A Cape Cod man faces charges after his attempt at bank robbery was thwarted by an obstinate bank teller.

According to Boston police, Lukas Gauthier, 27, of Mashpee, was arrested on Saturday and initially charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle and operating after revocation or suspension. A further investigation led to another charge, however: Attempted bank robbery.

Gauthier entered a Dorchester bank around 11 a.m. on Sunday, police said. During his time there, he passed a note to a bank teller stating that he had a gun, though no weapon was ever revealed.

The teller refused to give him money, and Gauthier fled the bank.

Gauthier will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
