Cape Man Arrested After Taking Joyride On Golf Course: Police

Police said they saw Joseph Galatie, 22, drive his pickup truck on the Bass River Golf Course and hit a boulder while trying to leave.

YARMOUTH, MA — A Cape Cod man was arrested Friday after Yarmouth police said he took his car for a joyride on a local golf course.

Joseph Galatie, 22, of Harwich, was charged with malicious destruction of private property and trespassing with a motor vehicle.

Around 11:30 p.m., police got a call about someone driving a Toyota pickup truck on the Bass River Golf Course. Within minutes, officers arrived and saw Galatie driving around the fairway near Country Club Drive, police said.

Police said Galatie struck a large boulder while trying to leave the golf course onto Highbank Road.

Officers checked the golf course and found damage to several fairways and greens.

Galatie was booked at the Yarmouth Police Department and later released on bail.
