Carousel of Light to Hold Casablanca Movie Night Feb.

The Carousel of Light will hold a fundraiser at Falmouth Cinema Pub on Thursday, Feb. 6, featuring the 70th anniversary release of “Casablanca,” winner of the 1942 Academy Award for best picture, best director (Michael Curtiz) and best screenplay.

The movie stars Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid, and features Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt, Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre.

Admission donation is $10, with all ticket revenue going to the non-profit Carousel of Light to help in the board’s mission “to bring joy to children of all ages by protecting, supporting and preserving the Carousel of Light for generations to come.”

Falmouth Cinema Pub is hosting the event and donating the use of the theatre. Food and beverages, including wine and beer, will be available for sale to the attendees.

The carousel’s board of directors, headed by president Jim Bowen, is exploring location options to showcase and operation the one-of-a-kind, hand-carved work of art in Falmouth this summer.

Local artist Lance Shinkle has donated 20 horses, two chariots, three sculptures, 12 scenery panels, an antique calliope and a 1947 vintage Allan Herschell carousel turn-table mechanism to the board.
